I wanted to talk about something really important that often gets neglected. Over the years, I have went through several skincare products. My skin was not the best, but at this point in my life, I’m content with how my skin looks and behaves. I had oily skin before, but to my surprise, it wasn’t actually oily. It was dehydrated so it produced more oil than necessary to overcome dryness. Here is the routine that has been working for me.
- Taking off makeup: I cannot stress enough on this. I have a few friends that actually don’t take off their makeup completely before bed, NOT ACCEPTABLE LADIES! Take your makeup off, doesn’t matter how tired you are, your skin will thank you in the future. I use cotton pads soaked in Micellar water to take my eye makeup off. So just leave the cotton pads on your eyes for 10 seconds and wipe off. Then I use one baby wipe to take off my face makeup, this doesn’t take off everything but takes a good chunk off.
- Cleansing: I always use a gentle cleanser. Lately, I have been using the Ole Henriksen as well as Neutrogena . I really like both the cleansers, they are gentle, they don’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry.
- Moisturizing: I use Moisture Surge by Clinique. I have to admit, this isn’t a holy grail product for me. It’s very good, very moisturizing, it leaves my skin feeling soft until morning but I think I will be switching to something else after the tub is done. Also, don’t forget your lips, I usually either apply a little bit of coconut oil or Vaseline.
- Extra steps: 2-3 times a week I like to pamper my skin with masks and exfoliation. If you’d like more details on that let me know =)
The simpler the routine, the better. That is what I have learned throughout my years of figuring out a good skincare routine. Having a good regimen is key for good makeup application as well. Even if you don’t wear makeup, good skin boosts confidence =)
